If you have noticed these days, many freeware
are now bening made available by developers with installers as well as
in portable versions, since many prefer to use the portable versions on
their Windows computer. But still there are many software that are
available in the installer forms only.
The way P-Apps works is that, it first takes a snapshot of your system before you install a program. It then again takes a snapshot of your system after you install the software. It then compares the two and stores the differences, like new files, new registry entries, etc, in the portable package of the installed software.
So after you download it, you have to first run a pre-install scan, then install the desired software and then run the post-install scan. The changes are then stored seperately.
While P-Apps is technically able to work on all such installation based programs, since it is a new program, there may be a possibility that it may not work with some; especially those that perform kernel changes.

Create portable software
If you want to create portable versions of such installer based software, you can check out P-Apps. P-Apps isolates the application from operating system and enables it to be used from a USB memory stick or flash drive. The way P-Apps works is that, it first takes a snapshot of your system before you install a program.
