No list of Chrome games could be complete without Angry Birds. With five different worlds and full-offline support, this is an excellent version of Angry Birds. The gameplay should need no introduction – you fling birds at pigs.

Canabalt

Canabalt was an extremely popular flash game when it came out, and it’s now on the Chrome Web Store. The gameplay is simple – the only button you have is a jump button. Your character sprints across randomly generated rooftops, gaining speed. The goal is to see how far you can make it before you slip and fall.

Entanglement

Entanglement is a slick, HTML 5-based puzzle game, complete with Zen-like relaxing music. It’s so good that Google once shipped it with Chrome by default. In Entanglement, you place etched tiles onto a hexagonal grid, extending the path as much as possible without running into a wall or dead end.

This game uses the same gameplay gimmick as VVVVVV, another puzzle-platform game.

ImmorTall

ImmorTall is different from the other games here – it’s more of an art game. In ImmorTall, you play an alien that lands on Earth and has its first contact with humanity. It only takes a few minutes to play, but it’s well worth your time.

ImmorTall is almost guaranteed to provoke an emotional reaction.

Dragon Age Legends: Remix 01

This game is a remix of Dragon Age Legends, a supposedly tedious Facebook game. Unlike the original, it’s a fast-paced, hack-and-slash action game that stands on its own. It’s ideal for Dragon Age fans and anyone that wants to slaughter massive amounts of darkspawn with mouse gestures.

Moon Breakers

Moon Breakers uses Google’s Native Client to deliver a multiplayer, 3D spaceship combat game. In a store full of Flash games, this game stands out. Moon Breakers, along with Bastion, offers a glimpse of the future of web games.

How To Restore Accidentally Deleted Bookmarks On Firefox & Chrome [Windows]

It happens to all of us: things get deleted by accident, and by the time we’re wise to it, they’re gone. Our browser’s bookmarks are no different. The bookmarks interface in both Firefox and Chrome is a bit confusing at times, and I can think of at least one time when I deleted a whole folder of bookmarks by mistake, thinking I was just removing it from the bookmarks toolbar.
Fortunately, restoring accidentally deleted bookmarks is rather easy, both in Firefox and Chrome. While in Firefox it has become a built-in feature, in Chrome it still requires some folder digging. In either case, don’t despair. There is a good chance you can recover your deleted bookmarks.

Chrome

If you’ve accidentally deleted some Chrome bookmarks, and you haven’t restarted Chrome more than once or twice since, you’re probably in luck. Chrome automatically backs up your bookmarks every once in a while, and your missing bookmarks may be waiting for you in that backup. So how do you restore those bookmarks from backup?
how to recover deleted bookmarksIn Explorer, browse to: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default. Note that AppData is a hidden folder, and you might not see it if Explorer is not set to show hidden folders. In any case, you can simply copy the path and paste it into Explorer. Just make sure to replace “USERNAME” by your own user name.
In this folder, you’ll find two important files: Bookmarks and Bookmarks.bak. Bookmarks includes your current bookmarks, and Bookmarks.bak is the backup you’re aiming at. You can check the date next to Bookmarks.bak to make sure the backup was done before you deleted the bookmarks. And now, to work: change the name of Bookmarks to Bookmarks.old.
restore firefox bookmarks
After you’ve done that, erase the “.bak” from Bookmarks.bak, so it simply becomes Bookmarks. The backup is now your main bookmarks file.
restore firefox bookmarks
When you change the names, Windows will warn you than you might ruin the file forever and ask if you’re really sure you want to take this step. You can go with “Yes” this time, you’re safe.
restore firefox bookmarks
Now restart Chrome, and your good old bookmarks will be back where they should be!
restore lost bookmarks

Obviously, if you’ve added or changed bookmarks after the accidental deletion, you will lose these changes by restoring the backup. So make sure you don’t lose newer bookmarks by restoring older ones.

Firefox

Firefox provides an easier way to restore lost bookmarks. This can be done even if you’ve restarted Firefox several times, and even if it’s been several days since the “accident”.
restore lost bookmarks
Firefox automatically backups your bookmarks, much like Chrome does, but unlike Chrome, it saves the last 10 backups for you, instead of just one. In addition, you don’t have to go digging around in folders and changing names – Firefox has built this into its interface.
In the Firefox menu choose Bookmarks and then Show All Bookmarks. Alternatively, you can simply hit Ctrl+Shift+B. In the bookmarks library window, choose “Import and Backup”, and then “Restore”.
restore lost bookmarks
Here you will get to choose which backup you want restore. The best bet would be to choose the latest one before you deleted your bookmarks. If you’re restoring just after deleting them, choose the most recent one. If you’ve done this several days ago, go for an older backup.
Firefox will now warn you that restoring bookmarks will replace all your current bookmarks. Take this into account if you’ve done any changes lately besides deleting bookmarks by accident. Ideally, the only change between now and the backup should be the deleted bookmarks.
firefox-undelete-bookmarks-2[4]
After you click OK, the change is immediate. You don’t even have to restart Firefox. Your lost bookmarks will simply reappear out of the abyss.
how to recover deleted bookmarks

Final Note

It’s prudent, of course, to always back up everything you have on your computer, including bookmarks. It’s nice to know there’s a way to restore accidentally deleted bookmarks, but don’t rely on it too heavily, especially when using Chrome.
Do you know of other ways how to recover deleted bookmarks? Is there something else you’ve accidentally deleted and wish you could restore? Share in the comments!

Google Image Ripper: Minimalist Image Search With Direct Download Links [Web]

Google Image search is one of the most comprehensive image search tools on the web that provides users with fast and accurate results. While we search Google images, thumbnails of images are displayed and, when clicked, the image is displayed in a box over the original website. In order to download an image, the user can either close the box and download the image from the website, or view the full-size image and then download it. Downloading images from Google Image Search results means that you have to go through some extra steps. Google Image Ripper, a simple tool, solves this problem and makes both image search & downloading easier. Both Google Images and Google Image Ripper have the same search results, but Ripper comes with a minimalist layout and displays images with direct download links, so you do not have to leave the search page to download the image. It then allows you to view the full sized images in a slideshow. However, a drawback of Ripper is that the search filters are removed, and only two filters, Safe Mode and Image Size, can be applied to the search results.
Google Image Ripper displays images in a clutter free interface; however, you will be able to apply only two basic filters. Image Size filter has three options (large, medium and icon), whereas Safe Mode filter has an on or off option. Each image has a Download and a View Website link. In addition to that, you can enable the Do not show broken image option and click Show More Results.
Google Image Ripper
Full-sized images are displayed in a a slideshow with each image having a Next button. Click the CLOSE button to return to the results page, or simply click Download to save the image to the local system. The image number is also displayed at the bottom left corner.

Google Image Ripper is an alternative to the traditional Google Image Search, which makes the download process a bit complicated. This handy service allows you to directly download images and eliminates all the extra clicking.

Build Your Own Remote Desktop Tool For Free

The Chrome developer community Friday released the first beta of Chrome Remote Desktop, a Chrome extension that allows any machine running Google (NSDQ:GOOG)'s open-source browser to connect to and control any other machine running Chrome, be it on Linux, Mac OS X or Windows.
For solution providers, the tool turns Chrome into a platform for building a remote support utility for client endpoints that's 100 percent free. The software even works with Chromebooks, although only as a guest for now; Chromebooks cannot yet act as hosts to be be remotely controlled.
Like most browser plug-ins, Chrome Remote Desktop is simple to install. For machines already running Chrome, simply point the browser to the Chrome Remote Desktop web page or search for it in the Chrome Web Store to download and install the extension.
Once installed, an icon appears on new Chrome Home Page windows or tabs that when clicked prompts the user to "Share this Computer" and "Access a Shared Computer." Opting to share generates a 12-number code that the remote user enters into the Chrome Remote Desktop-enabled browser on their end (after opting to access a shared computer).
The remote desktop of the shared computer appears in the browser window, like a bare-bones version of GoToMyPC from Citrix (NSDQ:CTXS), but without the monthly charge. A tab at the top of the browser window drops down when the mouse hovers near, displaying the name of the person controlling your machine along with controls for scaling and ending the session. When scaling is selected, the remote screen automatically shrinks or stretches to fit the browser window whenever it's resized.
There are lots of reasons to be excited about Chrome Remote Desktop, not the least of which is that it's free and built on an open-source browser that is actually quite good. Also, it installs easily (as does the browser itself) and is compatible with all major desktop operating systems and Chromebooks. We tested it on a Samsung Series 5 Chromebook (we had to update to Chrome 14 on Chrome OS 811.117) as well as Mac OS X and Windows 7. The version we tested was Chrome Remote Desktop 1.2.20109.8300.
Once connected, either party can disconnect using an always-on-top dialog box dedicated to the task. Security is never in question as a unique code is generated by the host for each sharing session, and it only works with one guest. Curious if the tool would allow two guests to connect to a single host at once, we generated a code and used it to connect to one guest, then attempted to connect a second guest using the same access code. This crashed the extension and that sharing session was lost.

We tested the extension on all three of its four supported platforms, connecting multiple windows and tabs from Chromebook to Mac OS and Windows and between Windows and Mac OS. When sharing, the host machine can be seen and controlled by the guest and the host at the same time. Performance was adequate, stable and predictable. Response time was better in native resolution than when using screen scaling.
The tool is not for every job, however. This is not a replacement for an RDP client such as Cybele Software's ThinRDP, and it cannot connect to "headless" systems such those in a data center; someone has to be present at the remote host to initiate a sharing session and generate an access code. After about 15 minutes, an inactive session will time out, and a new code will be required to resume it. Developers are working on a version suitable for accessing one's own machine from elsewhere.
Still, the Chrome Remote Desktop beta represents an excellent first pass at making remote control a free and available to everyone running the Chrome browser. This product could have a lasting effect on the remote control business as it gives solution providers a no-cost platform for support-desk tools development

Remove Facebook’s Floating Toolbar And Ticker Update [Google Chrome]

Facebook is going through many new changes, as you know that Facebook is going to implement new timeline feature which is being in roll out process.
Sometime back Facebook has implemented a change which is nice, as per me, they had added a fixed floating toolbar which allows you to quickly move to your Profile Page, Homepage, Setting or Logout from Facebook.
If you scroll down to page that toolbar moves with you, its fixed and float as you scroll down the page.
But some users are not linking it and they want their old interface back, it may be due to any reason, like they are not liking it.
Another update which Facebook has made is that they had put an ticker update at the right side which keeps updating itself periodically.

If you want to disable these two annoying Facebook updates then you can install Unannoying Facebook extension for Google Chrome which will disable these two annoying things.
After installing and reloading Facebook you will find that your fixed floating toolbar is gone and there is no more ticker updates.
